Cornea transplant wait list on centralised platform soon
India is creating a centralized platform to track cornea transplant waitlists. This initiative aims to address the shortage of cornea donations, with only 27,394 transplants performed in 2023-24 against a demand of 2 lakh. The platform will monitor eye bank performance, potentially revoking licenses from those collecting fewer than 100 corneas annually.
