CPI norms on 'politically correct' drinking miss the mark

Leaders and cadres should avoid public drunkenness and should drink responsibly at home. The party aims to maintain a high moral ground and uphold respectability while refraining from all social evils. There was never an outright ban on alcohol consumption by CPI members.
