Diwali festivities begin with Dhanteras, doors of Annapurna temple opened
The Annapurna temple in Varanasi opened its doors for darshan of the golden idol of Goddess Annapurna on Dhanteras. Thousands of devotees gathered to seek blessings and receive coins from the temple's coffer. Special rituals are performed, and the idol remains open for four days during the Diwali festival. City markets were bustling with festive shoppers.
