India needs Rs 81.6k crore per year up to 2029-30 to meet biodiversity goals

India pledges to restore 30% of degraded areas by 2030, aligning with global biodiversity goals. The nation unveiled its National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan at COP16, estimating an annual funding need of Rs 81,664 crore. India aims to reduce biodiversity threats and enhance sustainable resource use, having spent Rs 32,207 crore annually from 2017-2022 on conservation efforts.
