Maharashtra: Caught in debt trap by private moneylenders, farmer forced to sell kidney; six in police custody

A Chandrapur farmer, driven to desperation by exorbitant interest rates and harassment from six private moneylenders, has filed a police complaint. Forced into a debt trap that spiralled from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 74 lakh, he resorted to selling his kidney in Cambodia for Rs 8 lakh to settle his dues. Police have arrested the accused.
