Mulund will witness a contest between Congress's Rakesh Shetty and BJP's Mihir Kotecha in the upcoming assembly election. Kotecha is the sitting MLA and has won from Mulund for the past five assembly polls. Shetty is a debutant and has been a Congress functionary since 2008. VBA has fielded Pradeep Shirsat from the seat.
