Off to races: NRI’s bitten off thumb rushed from horse’s mouth to operating table

A 49-year-old NRI in Surat narrowly escaped permanent disability after a horse bit off his thumb. Surgeons successfully reattached the digit through a time-critical microsurgery, joining tiny blood vessels and reconstructing a torn tendon. The patient, an avid horse lover, received a rabies vaccine and will undergo physiotherapy to regain movement.
