Delnaaz Irani opens up about playing Gulshan Tarapurwala, an overbearing Parsi mother, in Netflix’s ‘Chumbak’. Speaking to Mid-Day, the actor reveals filmmaker Aatish Kapadia wrote the role keeping her in mind and recalls preparing for her audition by wearing old clothes from her cupboard. Irani says she initially avoided Parsi characters because they were often reduced to caricatures, but embraced ‘Chumbak’ for its fuller portrayal of a Parsi family and its distinctive quirks.
