12 years before the SIR rush, Mark Tully had queued for a KMC birth certificate

Renowned journalist Mark Tully faced a bureaucratic hurdle in obtaining his birth certificate for an Overseas Citizen of India card. Despite being born in Kolkata in 1935, retrieving the document proved challenging due to Tollygunge's former status as a separate municipality. The Kolkata Municipal Corporation, with TOI's assistance, eventually located the record, allowing Tully to secure his OCI status.
