48 lakh calls in four years: India turns to Tele-MANAS as WHO flags mental healthcare gaps

Since its launch in October 2022, Tele-MANAS has received almost 48 lakh calls, highlighting a crucial demand for accessible mental health support. As the World Health Organization underscores the importance of community-focused care over hospital-based treatment, it is revealed that many countries still rely heavily on psychiatric facilities. In India, a noteworthy portion of the callers are aged between 18 and 45 years.
