90 years ago, Gaekwad rulers planned to make Baroda aviation hub of India
Vadodara's role in India's aviation industry traces back nearly 90 years with Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad's vision to create a civil aviation hub. A pact with a German company led to a glider manufacturing unit established in Baroda in 1939. Despite World War II halting progress, historical remnants of this effort still exist.
