As Pakistan’s power bills soared, rooftop solar helped save the country $12 billion in fuel imports
Pakistan's transition to solar power has enabled millions of households to rely on renewable energy. The country began this shift during the Ukraine War due to soaring electricity prices and fuel import challenges. Grassroots movements contributed to the rapid installation of solar panels across urban and rural areas. This increased capacity has saved Pakistan over $12 billion in fossil fuel expenses since the transition.
