Assam polls: Akhil Gogoi declares 21 pending cases, but no convictions
Assam MLA Akhil Gogoi has declared 21 pending criminal cases, including charges of criminal conspiracy and terrorist acts, in his election affidavit. Notably, he has no prior convictions. Gogoi previously won the Sibsagar seat in 2021 while incarcerated, a victory reminiscent of George Fernandes's 1977 win from prison.
