Beavers set to return to Loch Ness after 500 years, with 15 family groups approved for release.
In an exciting development, wild beavers are about to return to Loch Ness after centuries of absence. The Scottish nature agency NatureScot has sanctioned their release as part of a transformative rewilding project. Over the next three years, conservationists will introduce family groups of beavers to the area’s waterways, focusing on enhancing biodiversity and wildlife habitats, while also implementing strategies to resolve any conflicts with local farmers and landowners.
