Dan Aykroyd says ‘Ghostbusters’ filming started without permission to use the name
Dan Aykroyd has disclosed an intriguing tidbit about the 1984 classic, 'Ghostbusters'; filming kicked off without securing proper rights to its name. This was due to a rights conflict with a Taft Broadcasting sitcom sharing a similar title. Columbia Pictures eventually purchased the rights for $500,000 after production had already started. Aykroyd highlighted Harold Ramis's significant contribution to the film's creation, which has since spawned various sequels and reboots.
