Govt sends JPC queries to EC for inputs on cost, logistics & impact of simultaneous polls
MPs have raised nearly 40 queries regarding the proposed One-Nation-One-Election (ONOE) bill, questioning its cost, benefits, and implementation hurdles. The Election Commission has been asked to provide detailed inputs, including how simultaneous elections could reduce expenditures and affect government functioning. Queries also include the logistics of using EVMs and the impact on municipal and panchayat polls.
