IICT project assistant in Hyderabad ends life over ‘caste bias, harassment’; dad among 3 held
A 28-year-old PhD student at Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Pulivarthi Deepthi, died by suicide due to harassment, financial exploitation, and caste-based discrimination. Three people, including her father, were arrested. A financial dispute involving a15 lakh and failed job promises led to her extreme step. Charges include abetment to suicide and caste-based atrocities.
