IIT-Bombay suicide row: Caught using phone in exam, Sahil Wakode wrote ‘confession’; rules mandate fresh answer sheet

Sahil Wakode, a second-year BTech student at IIT Bombay, was found dead shortly after an alleged academic malpractice incident. His parents have accused the institute of caste discrimination, demanding action against Professor Suryanarayana Doolla and IIT Bombay Director Shireesh Kedare. Investigations by the Mumbai Crime Branch involve statements from about 40 witnesses, including faculty and fellow students. IIT Bombay's procedures for handling academic misconduct are being scrutinized following this case.
