In 2020, Anindita Gogoi opened a library for Assam’s tea-garden children; today, it has 10,000 books
Anindita Gogoi has pioneered a remarkable initiative to set up libraries in Assam, aimed at improving educational access for children in tea-garden communities. From her humble beginnings with a roadside library, she grew her project to three libraries housing approximately 10,000 books. These spaces cater to kids who have either never set foot in school or have dropped out, and they incorporate engaging, creative learning activities.
