Jamia protesters ‘dragged’ out of campus, rusticated; university says guards acted in ‘self defence’

Several students at Jamia Millia Islamia have begun a hunger strike, calling for the revival of student union elections. Tensions escalated when security allegedly removed them from the campus. As a result, the university has suspended and rusticated some of the involved students. Protesters are demanding the chief proctor's resignation and a thorough independent inquiry into the incident, while university authorities argue that student representation continues through alternative electoral frameworks.
