Karnataka forest department vehicles safeguard students from elephant threats in Madikeri
Over 40 elephants are wreaking havoc in villages near Madikeri, destroying crops and instilling fear in residents. The forest department has stepped in to protect villagers, escorting students in department vehicles and patrolling sensitive areas. Despite efforts to drive the elephants back to the forest, they continue to occupy coffee estates, leaving farmers in despair.
