Karnataka: Man duped of Rs 17 crore; fraudsters pretend to be TRAI officials
A man in Mangaluru was defrauded of Rs 1.7 crore by scammers impersonating TRAI officials. The scammers claimed his number was linked to illegal activities and threatened him with legal action. Posing as police and CBI officers, they fabricated documents and extorted money from the victim, who transferred the sum in multiple transactions.
