Madras HC allows ‘Tamil Anthem first’ at govt functions, says it can precede Vande Mataram, National Anthem
The Madras High Court clarified a Union Home Ministry notification. This notification requires Vande Mataram to be sung first at government functions. The court stated this does not prohibit the Tamil Thai Vazhthu from being sung before it. A Public Interest Litigation sought to quash the Centre's circular. The High Court has now reserved its judgment on the matter.
