At Kochi airport, Ajas Mohammed's attempt to bring in an iPhone bought in Dubai was thwarted when customs officials demanded import duty after discovering he had another phone. He asserted it was for personal use and refused to shoulder what he deemed unfair charges. A sit-in protest ensued, leading to his removal as police intervened. India's customs regulations allow a ₹75,000 duty-free limit on personal items.
