Meet Pragya, the student who found an alternative route to IIT Madras and became an AI/ML Engineer
When the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted Pragya’s plans to take the JEE from Malaysia, she found another way to pursue her IIT dream. She joined IIT Madras’ BS programme in Data Science and Applications in 2021 and completed the degree in 2025. Along the way, she gained industry experience through data science internships before becoming an AI/ML Engineer in Bengaluru. Her journey highlights how alternative academic pathways, practical experience and perseverance can open doors to an IIT education and technology career.
