Namami Gange's impact: Ganga water turns cleaner in Kashi
The Namami Gange program significantly improved the Ganges River's water quality in Varanasi. Sewage treatment capacity increased from 100 MLD in 2017 to 420 MLD today, leading to a drop in BOD and fecal coliform levels. The program constructed multiple new STPs, moving the Ganga from Priority Segment-4 to the less polluted Priority Segment-5.
