New J&K CM Omar picks ex-BJP man from Jammu as deputy, Cong sits out over ‘statehood’
In J&K's first elected government, Congress stayed out until statehood is restored, as NC's Omar Abdullah became CM. Surinder Kumar Choudhary from BJP secured the deputy CM post. The administration includes balanced representation and plans to propose statehood restoration to PM Modi.
