New research rules out the theory of Stonehenge Altar Stone's Northeast Scottish Origin
Researchers continue to explore the origins of the Altar Stone at Stonehenge, which weighs approximately six tonnes. Recent studies suggested a possible origin from northeast Scotland, but findings have complicated this theory. A new international team's research found no matching source from the Scottish locations they examined, narrowing possibilities down. Previous assumptions about the Altar Stone's Welsh origins have been challenged by new geological insights.
