No SC/ST Act offence if slur not aimed at humiliation: Allahabad high court

The Allahabad High Court clarified that caste slurs alone do not constitute an offense. Mere use of a caste name requires intent to insult or demean. The court quashed a summoning order against Vegraj Singh in a criminal appeal. Evidence must clearly point to the accused's complicity in such remarks. The court emphasized exercising powers under Section 319 CrPC sparingly.
