Psychology says children who hide their school marks from parents may have more to do with home

Many children conceal their underwhelming academic performance due to the weight of parental expectations. Disheartening interactions with parents can push students towards disengagement strategies in coping with stress. Conversely, when parents offer support, it nurtures a willingness to tackle academic difficulties. If children believe their achievements determine parental approval, they may also experience heightened anxiety during tests. Grasping this relationship can enable parents to promote open dialogue about academic struggles.
