Renowned Sikh poet Daljit Nagra quits as RSL chair in row over censorship and literary standards
Daljit Nagra, chairman of the Royal Society of Literature (RSL), and its director Molly Rosenberg, resigned shortly before an AGM where they faced potential ousting. The RSL, accused of censorship and failing to defend writers like Salman Rushdie, referred itself to the Charity Commission after criticisms from prominent authors. Controversies arose over its support for literary excellence and diversity policies.
