Scientists uncover pale blue damselfish species in Maldives' deep-sea reefs
Scientists discovered a new damselfish species, Chromis abadhah, in the Maldives' mesophotic zone. This two-toned fish, found at depths of 30-150 meters, highlights the unique adaptations of marine life in low-light conditions. The discovery underscores the need to conserve these vulnerable ecosystems, threatened by human activities and climate change, and rich in undiscovered biodiversity.
