Shepherd who alerted Army about Pakistan troops in Kargil in 1999 dies
The Indian Army paid tribute to Ladakhi shepherd Tashi Namgyal, who recently passed away. Namgyal played a vital role in the 1999 Kargil War by alerting the army to Pakistani infiltration. While searching for his yaks, he discovered Pakistani soldiers constructing bunkers, enabling a swift Indian response.
