Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) orders UPPCL to refund excess smart meter charges
The Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission has ordered power discoms to refund or adjust excess charges collected from consumers for smart prepaid meters. UPPCL had levied unapproved rates, impacting over 3.67 lakh consumers, with an immediate refund liability of Rs 127 crore. The commission mandated a compliance report by July 31.
