Varanasi divisional commissioner orders swift action on NGT's floodplain encroachment directive
The divisional commissioner, Kaushal Raj Sharma, instructed the irrigation department to promptly mark the floodplain zones of the Varuna and Assi rivers and remove encroachments. A committee will oversee sewage treatment and compliance with NGT orders, including establishing an STP to purify additional domestic sewage.
