Want your child to actually tell you about school? Try these 5 simple parenting shifts

“Tell me about your day.” It sounds like an easy question. Yet for many parents, it is also one of the questions that gets the least satisfying answer. This is how the typical conversation follows:“How was school?”“Fine.”“What did you do?”“Nothing.”“Did anything happen?”“No.”And just like that, the conversation is over.It can be frustrating, particularly when parents genuinely want to know what is happening in their child's world. What made them laugh? Who did they sit with at lunch? Did they enjoy the class? Did someone upset them?- The problem may not always be that children don't want to talk. Sometimes, we are simply asking them to talk at the wrong time and in the wrong way.
