West Bengal govt tightens screws on littering, open defecation

West Bengal has banned open defecation and public urination, imposing fines of Rs 200. Littering and carrying banned plastic bags will also attract similar penalties from Tuesday. Spitting in public places will incur a fine of one hundred rupees for offenders. Conservancy workers will enforce these new regulations and collect fines digitally.
