What one year of learning a musical instrument did to young children's brains surprised researchers

For many parents, enrolling their children in music lessons is more about helping them discover new hobbies. But many are unaware of the fact that learning music can have much deeper effects on a child’s brain. Research from the McMaster University in Canada found that children who take music lessons develop differently from those who don't.
