Why you sometimes feel like you are falling while falling asleep

Hypnic jerks are those surprising muscle contractions that catch many adults off guard as they drift into slumber. Often described as sudden falls or jolts, they can spike heart rates and disrupt sleep patterns. Factors such as stress, exhaustion, and caffeine are known to amplify these sensations, sometimes triggering insomnia. In extreme instances, hypnic jerks can even pose mental health risks.
