Forest dept releases 12 transmitter-tagged gharials in Satkosia
Forest department released 12 GPS-tagged gharials into the Mahanadi gorge. This initiative aims to strengthen the wild population of this critically endangered species. The total gharial number in Satkosia wild has now increased to 27. Natural breeding of gharials has been reported for five consecutive years. The survival rate of hatchlings remains a challenge.
