Karnataka HC awards 14-fold increase in compensation for deceased student's family
The Karnataka High Court has significantly increased the compensation awarded to the family of a deceased diploma student involved in a motorcycle accident. Despite the rider lacking a license, the court ruled that the insurer must pay the enhanced compensation of ₹21.28 lakh and recover it from the vehicle owner, citing the 'pay and recover' principle.
