Louisiana woman wins nearly $450,000 after $32,500 river barrier fails and home shifts
After suffering extensive structural damage to her home from a failing wooden bulkhead, Elizabeth Molbert took legal action against the contractor involved and succeeded. The jury assigned 75% of the blame to the contractor and, in a twist, the appeals court ruled that Molbert had no fault in the matter, increasing her compensation to $448,431.34 and adjusting her mental anguish damages to align with her financial difficulties.
